America- First, Last and Always

Note: Although this was intended for the 200 Presidential election, I am leaving this posted, as I believe this is, still, a good basis for a format for Republicans in the Congress and in the next Presidential Election of 2012. It is a shame that the RINO John McCain and the clueless RNC chose to ignore these recommendations. They lost, didn't they?

Maybe a future candidate may find these useful or perhaps We the People will adopt some or all of these ideas and force them on a future candidate.

Recommended 2008 Platform for the Republican National Committee

07-20-2008

The platform should be limited and, directly, aimed at satisfying the expectations and demands of the Middle Class of this great nation. Too long has the Republican Party kowtowed to the Country Club set, the executive levels of the Management Class, Wall Street Mavens, Investment Bankers, the Leaders of the Finance Industry, Big Oil Executives, and that small elite group of very Wealthy and detached from reality people.

In the past, this has been sufficient, in some years, to elect Republican Presidents. However, the mood of We the People has changed, dramatically, in recent years and the election of 2008 will be a milestone and watershed of the discontent of the Middle Class with their government and the people who run it. If the Republican Party continues its past plan of strategy and tactics in this election, they will hand the Democrats the biggest victory they have ever achieved in national politics.

Therefore, I propose the following small but extremely important platform to satisfy the demands of the electorate in the 2008 election.

The 2008 Republican Presidential Platform

A. Energy Independence Is the Number One Consideration of the Winning Presidential Campaign

     a. The first item should concern itself with achieving permanent energy independence in an expeditious manner. Drill Here, Drill Now must be the watchword in this election and must be the underlying purpose and main objective of the McCain Administration. Drilling must begin within one to two months after President McCain takes office. The areas of exploration and exploitation must be the coastal waters off of California, the deep waters of the Gulf of Mexico, and the ANWR. With modern technology, there should be no accidental spills from these activities and no environmental damage to the ANWR. McCain must lay aside his professed concerns for the environmental effects of drilling in ANWR and get with the program.

     b. Every effort must be made to advance the technology required to extract oil from the shale deposits in certain western states. Advances in nano technology require, only, a national emergency development program to rapidly advance this area of science to realize quick, cheap, and environmentally friendly extraction of this resource.

     c. Construction of, at least, 100 nuclear power plants must become a national priority.

     d. The government must encourage the development of hydrogen powered vehicles as well as residential hydrogen fuel cells to provide inexpensive and readily available electricity for homes. In August 2007, a Purdue University research team announced they had developed a process to extract hydrogen, on demand, from water. The current Administration, totally, ignored this fantastic discovery that is on a parallel with the harnessing of the atom. This laissez-faire attitude, on the part of government, is unconscionable and must be turned to a national priority of refinement and implementation in the shortest possible time, not to exceed 2 years. Another Republican administration that ignores this well-known discovery in order to pander to Big Oil will spell fini to the Republican Party.

B. War on Terror

     a. The war in Iraq must be brought to a successful conclusion with the establishment of a strong, independent, and democratic nation. No other option is acceptable.

     b. Likewise, the war in Afghanistan must, also, be brought to a successful conclusion by whatever means necessary.

     c. Iran must be neutralized by the most expedient means. An effort must be made to undermine and remove the current regime and replace it with a free, democratic, and independent government that is friendly to the United States.

C. Illegal Immigration

     a. Our border with Mexico must be completely secured, quickly and efficiently.

     b. Under no circumstances will amnesty be offered to the 20 million or more illegals, presently, in this country.

     c. No additional funding will be provided to assist these illegals with social services, health care, SSI, food stamps, etc. They are criminals and must be treated as such.

     d. Laws that forbid the hiring of illegals by companies must be, stringently enforced. Heavy fines and jail terms for management and owners of such businesses must be applied in all cases. Illegals found working in these businesses must be, expeditiously, deported along with any and all family members who are, also, illegals. No exceptions.

     e. Once the border is, permanently, secured and the illegal population in this nation is reduced to less than one million, we can begin the exploration of a guest worker program. We must, also, pass a law that no guest work can replace or be hired in lieu of an American citizen.

     f. NAFTA with Mexico as will as such treaties with South and Central America must be suspended until they are thoroughly, discussed in a public forum and receive the approval of the American people.

     g. American companies who close domestic operations and relocate in foreign countries to obtain cheaper labor must have tariffs imposed upon their products that would equal their costs to produce their products in this nation. No government programs of support or taxpayer funds are to be given to these companies to encourage their export of American jobs.

The above is sufficient a platform to appeal to the general body of the electorate. Elaborations and extensions tend to obfuscate the message with unnecessary complexity and confusion. Keep it simple, stupid, should be the underlying premise of constructing a platform that the American people can understand, appreciate, and support. After winning the election, President McCain must keep his focus on the accomplishment of this platform in the shortest time frame possible. If he deviates or reneges, the people will demand his impeachment. Believe it. We are very angry and displeased with our national government and will no longer tolerate its shenanigans, prevarications, obfuscations, excuses, corruption, or self-interests .
